Vultures! The Worst of Ocean State Job Lot

Depending on which store you go to, you could have a fairly consistent fleet with very little need to update or your store's carts get stolen so often your fleet is updated almost every month and maybe half your carts get vertical poles to keep them in the store. Let's go over the best and worst of what Ocean State Job Lot has to offer.

NOTE: Some carts may overlap and may appear in more than one location.
NOTE 2: Some of these carts may no longer be in the location they were originally photographed at.
NOTE 3: An asterisk* indicates an entry at one location was solved by analyzing an entry at another location.
NOTE 4: Some locations have closed after being photographed. These will be marked in red.

Original Retailer: Unknown. Presumed to be either Walmart or ShopRite.

Original Retailer: Walmart. A Walmart logo was present on the handle insert.

Original Retailer: Walmart. Later refurbished for use by Stop & Shop.

Original Retailer: Walmart. Not sure why they purged an M90ZX since they normally send them back to be refurbished and sent to another store.

Original Retailer: Walmart. Originally manufactured in 2005 and refurbished in 2010.

Original Retailer: Unknown. Dark blue seat flap suggests a former Kroger or Grade A unit.

Original Retailer: Walmart. No true attempt was made at disguising this one. Manufactured in 2006 and refurbished in 2012.

Original Retailer: Walmart. Originally manufactured in 1998 and refurbished in the mid 2000s.

Original Retailer: Walmart

Original Retailer: Hobby Lobby

Original Retailer: Ames. Reused by Ann & Hope Outlet before arriving at Ocean State Job Lot.

Original Retailer: Brookhaven Marketplace. Despite the attempts at filing off the original retailer's name, it was still visible on the child seat flap. Also has the BOBAKS name stamped on the bottom plate for some reason. Dated 08 04.

SCHENECTADY NY

Original Retailer: Unknown. While it resembles a Sears Hardware unit, the rear pillars are inconsistent with one.

Original Retailer:
Target. The rear gate and round seat flap suggests this was a late-model Rehrig.

Original Retailer:
Linens 'n Things. This one still had a Linens 'n Things gift card advertisement sticker on the inner front logo box.

Original Retailer:
Walmart. Another one with no attempt at disguising.

Original Retailer: Unknown. Presumed to be Safeway but they ordered the same carts for many of their then-subsidiaries.

Original Retailer:
 Walmart

Original Retailer: Walmart. Re-used M90ZXs are an unusual sight.

Original Retailer: Meijer. These were sent to Ocean State Job Lot as Meijer replaced them with Precision Wire carts.

Original Retailer: Sam's Club. Not sure why they would acquire such large, cumbersome carts.

Original Retailer: Walmart. 1994 cart refurbished in the mid-2000s.

Original Retailer: PriceRite. Ocean State Job Lot had no qualms in re-badging this even though there is a PriceRite in Crosstown Plaza.

Original Retailer: Walmart. Has a Rehrig-style seat flap for some strange reason.

Original Retailer: Walmart. Another undisguised and refurbished Technibilt 6940.

Original Retailer: Unknown. Assumed to be either Pamida or ShopKo, but could also be Goodwill.

Original Retailer: Walmart. Twisting the Ocean State Job Lot handle insert upside-down shows the full Walmart handle detail. Aftermarket seat flap suggests Walmart kept this well into the 2010s.

Original Retailer:
 Walmart

Original Retailer: Staples. Very unusual to see a Staples cart get auctioned off and sent to a place like this.

Original Retailer: Unknown. Presumed to be from a grocery retailer.

Original Retailer: Staples. Technibilt sticker confirms it.

Original Retailer: Unknown. Presumed to be either Walmart or ShopRite.

Original Retailer: ShopKo. Logo is poorly filed off.

Original Retailer: Target. Another Vermaport Scanner Jr. This one is one of two with a fully intact Target Charge It! card inscription.

Original Retailer: Walmart. An older Technibilt cart refurbished in 2006.

Original Retailer: Target. Notice the uncensored Target Charge It! inscription.

Original Retailer: Stop & Shop. There was no way to twist the Ocean State Job Lot handle insert and cover the Stop & Shop logo fully.

Original Retailer: Walmart. Odd looking. as it looks to be refurbished, yet looks to have its original 1992 seat flap.

Original Retailer: Grand Union. Cart is outfitted with a poor fitting seat flap off an Ames United.

Original Retailer: Ames

Original Retailer: Walmart

Original Retailer: Hobby Lobby

Original Retailer: Benny's. Most of their shopping carts got sent to Ocean State Job Lot after they went under.

Original Retailer: Unknown. Possibly Benny's as well.

Original Retailer: Service Merchandise

Original Retailer: Service Merchandise

Original Retailer: Target

Original Retailer: Goodwill. The Ocean State Job Lot stickers are not tall enough to hide the large Goodwill stickers. Probably the lowest of the low when it comes to acquired carts.

Original Retailer: Walmart

Original Retailer: Target

Original Retailer: Roundy's. Erroneously spelled as "Ronudy's" on the bottom.

Original Retailer: ALDI Foods*. Reads "Creative Wire" on the bottom and has what appears to be what used to be a coin-op device on the right side of the handle.

Original Retailer: Unknown. Dated 12/98 and has a green handle under the grey OSJL insert.

Original Retailer: "Ann & Hope". Emphasized in quotes as the MFG. info on the side was filed off (except the date of manufacture, 04/01) and the orange handle is a common aftermarket handle for this style of cart.

Original Retailer: Save-a-Lot. Most likely another stolen unit.

Original Retailer: Toys Я Us

Original Retailer: Kmart

Original Retailer: Big Y. Trim pieces are aftermarket.

Original Retailer: Finast. This heavily rusted cart was manufactured in 1989 and has a loose basket.

Original Retailer: Home Depot. It evades logic how there is such an abundance of these currently being used at Home Depot stores, both stock and refurbished, yet a number of them still end up being reused by closeout stores. The number code on the flip side of the bottom plate is 10 07.

Original Retailer: Market Basket. Like many of their Precision Wire units, several of them are still bearing the insignia of the former business they belong to.

Original Retailer: Unknown. Color scheme suggests a late Grand Union unit, but the absence of a warning label on the child seat makes it difficult to tell.

ALBANY NY

Original Retailer:

Original Retailer: Toys Я Us. This one is slightly older than the ones they normally get.

RUTLAND VT

Original Retailer: Kmart

Original Retailer: Christmas Tree Shops. Possibly an Ann & Hope Outlet special.
