ShopRite's Addicted to the Shindig

Like Save-a-Lot, some ShopRite cart selections are very much a shindig, with carts of all shapes, sizes, and colors, and some are even acquired! So, let's look at what our stores have to offer...

NOTE: Some carts may overlap and may appear in more than one location.
NOTE 2: Some of these carts may no longer be in the location they were originally photographed at.
NOTE 3: Some locations have closed after being photographed. These will be marked in red.

Amended 07/24/2022 (general rephrasing), 12/30/2022 (Colonie), 10/23/2023 (closure of Colonie, Niskayuna, Albany, North Greenbush, Slingerlands)

COLONIE

2013 Unarco M90ZX. These bland carts came with the store.

Unarco PC41U, with a date code of 3/13. These are used by the ShopRite From Home department. In recent years these have been leaking out of the store.

2018 Technibilt Renaissance, a 2019 edition. These were topped up with 2021 Wanzl NA labeled Renaissances.

Unarco M48, also came with the store. Very few of these carts are still on site.

See ShopRite Gets Dumped On in Colonie, NY for the write-up on these carts.

The latest additions were a set of Technibilt 6542s with a coat of rust.

After many years of having a set of disappearing Unarco M48s, they added these 2022 Wanzl NA #5341 express carts.

All the aforementioned carts except the From Home red PC41Us and TB Renaissances have been replaced with these 2022 Unarco PC42s with white lettering.

On the Technibilt side, a black-lettered Renaissance from 2016 is present.

NISKAYUNA

2011 Unarco M90ZX, original to the store. This store no longer has these.

Red 2012 Unarco PC41Us. These are spares, and are stored to the left of the bottle return.

Unarco M48, another cart that is hard to come across.

Grey Unarco PC41U, with an angled backrest. This model would eventually disappear and reappear years later.

2018 Technibilt Renaissance. All Albany-area stores except Slingerlands have these.

This store also ended up with heavily-rusted Technibilt 6542s.

ALBANY

2015 Unarco PC41U. These and a 2014 set did not come with the store.

2018 Technibilt Renaissance. Typical add-on to the fleet.

Questionable Unarco M90ZX missing the front bumpers and having aftermarket bumper caps and handle inserts. The seat flaps are not from these carts as it has the pre-2012 warning labels, and this cart is dated 10-12.

Questionable older Technibilt also laden with aftermarket parts and a handle insert that appears to have come off another cart. Also noticeable is the cheap, quick spray job. In a way I wonder if this is the same cart seen in the Colonie section and the aforementioned write-up on that store. Also noticeable is something flaking off the left rear pillar; possibly the painted-over remnants of a Technibilt sticker. Also noticeable are some older PC41Us like the ones seen at the Colonie store and others.

HUDSON (OLD LOCATION)

2014 Unarco PC41U. Also present were 2009 versions of these.

2017 Technibilt Renaissance with black lettering. These would carry over to the new location.

2004 Unarco PC41U with the older-style rear pillars and white lettering.

Red Unarco PC41U, likely used by the ShopRite From Home department.

2017 Technibilt 5341. These would apprently carry over to the new location.

HUDSON (NEW LOCATION)

Apart from the aforementioned Technibilts arriving from the previous location, they also got a set of these 2018 Technibilt Renaissances with white lettering.

NEW PALTZ

2014 Unarco PC41U with black lettering. Most of the PC41Us consisted of these.

2018 Technibilt 5341, fairly new at the time these photos were taken.

White-lettered Unarco PC41U with the newer-style rear pillars. Manufactured in 2005.

White-lettered Unarco PC41U with the older-style rear pillars. Manufactured in 2004.

Black-lettered Unarco PC41U with the older-style rear pillars. Manufactured in 2003.

In the junk line were these rusted Technibilt 6542s; this one from 2012.

KINGSTON

The junk line had some valuable finds. First is a 2017 Technibilt Renaissance, which the store has used as standard since being remodeled that year. The rest include Unarco PC41Us of various ages (middle one is from 2016 and the bottom one is an ex-Walmart unit from 2004).

NORTH GREENBUSH

At the time these were photographed, these 2017 Technibilt Renaissances and 5341s (not photographed) were the entirety of the fleet.

SLINGERLANDS

2012 Unarco M90ZX. These came with the store.

2021 Wanzl NA-labeled 5341.

Unarco M48. These came with the store.

2012 Unarco PC41U. These are spares, kept near the bottle return area.

  1. Hudson does still have some of the smaller carts (like other places, not a huge supply, so they may not always be seen in the area where carts are stored).

North Greenbush also has the smaller carts, but seems to have less as of late (used to always be some ready to go early on Sunday, but the last couple times I only got one by bringing it in or in the case of today, using a larger one since I saw none en route to the store or inside).
