Save-a-Lot Saves... or do they?

At Save-a-Lot, most fleets are common and consistent while others may have less common carts. Let's see what the stores have to offer...

NOTE: Some carts may overlap and appear at more than one location.
NOTE 2: Some of these carts may no longer appear in the location they were originally photographed at.
NOTE 3: Some stores have closed after being photographed. These will be marked in red.

Amended 06/15/2022 (Rome), 01/11/2024 (Fort Plain)

FORT PLAIN

Standard carts in use at this location. These Technibilt 3342s are former Harris Teeter units.

Odd grey 2017 model originally in the junk line. Normally those with the Food Stores tagline are red.

2004 Unarco PC41U, source unknown.

2018 Unarco PC42 filled with boxes, and not for customer use.

GLOVERSVILLE

2010 Unarco PC41U, original source unknown.

2016 Unarco PC41U. Majority of the fleet consisted of these, with various mfg. dates.

2018 Unarco PC42, though still labeled as PC41.

The last fleet change was the addition of these ex-Target United 336 carts, clearly transfers from another location. This one is labeled as REHRIG UNITED with a date code of 9-07.

AMSTERDAM

2016 Unarco PC41U. Entire fleet consisted of these and a 2011 set.

HERKIMER

2016 Unarco PC41U. Entire fleet at the time consisted of used PC41Us.

In a rather embarrassing blunder, they decided to order these new Americana AMP-17 carts months prior to closing, most likely for the coin deposit (not shown).

COBLESKILL

Store had these 2016 Unarco PC41Us the entire time they were open.

UTICA

Fleet consisted of grey ex-Walmart carts, mostly Rehrig Snubnoses with some Unarco PC41Us. The red PC41U was not for customer use.

NORWICH

Store had your typical Unarco PC41Us, as well as United 336 and Rehrig Vistas that are ex-Target.

TUPPER LAKE

Presumably a Precision Wire 492W, original source unknown. These replaced a set of Unarco M100s from the 2000s.

ONEIDA

Store had a fleet of Unarco PC41Us the whole time the store was open. Manufactured in 2017.

ROME (NY)

2018 Unarco PC42, likely a transfer from another location. The rest of the fleet (as shown above) remains relatively unchanged, with only the rear-most carts in the queue donning decals with the current logo.

TROY (NY)

At the time, this store had 2015 Unarco PC41Us and 2018 Unarco PC42s.

At some point, those carts were replaced with these ex-Toys Я Us carts - TransNav model 336.

CORTLAND

The Unarco M100 was not for customer use.

Entire customer fleet consists of 2016 Unarco PC41Us. Since the store was said to have been remodeled, it is likely they simply covered up the logos on these with red decals like the Rome, NY sample.

NEWARK (NY)

Unarco M100, likely a former Tops unit.

ROTTERDAM (NY)

2011 Unarco PC41U, original source unknown. Other carts not shown here are PC41Us with the Food Stores tagline and 2018 Unarco PC42s.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Location: Amsterdam, New York

Random 1995 Tote model 1616. Unknown when this model was used, if at all at this location.

Location: Troy, New York

This cart was located between two buildings in the Hudson River Commons.

Location: Gloversville, New York

This cart appeared a month after Save-a-Lot closed, on the other side of the shopping center. Cart is a United Steel & Wire unit from 1993. Seat flap (and most likely the handle insert as well) is aftermarket.
